When Passion meets Profession : An Auto Love story

Photography runs in blood, but what gives me a kick, it's my passion or rather obsession with cars and bikes. I’m crazy and closely follow all events and launches in the automobile. In the past 10 - 15 years, Jaguars, Porsche, Range Rover, BMW, Benz, Audi have all become common on our Kerala Roads. Recently I came across several pictures of a Maserati Levante in Kerala, a rarity in Kerala. High end cars like Bently, Rolls Royce, Maserati, Bugatti are not at all common and it's very hard to find one on our roads. 

A few days back, I got a call from a car detailing company, EuroTeq Premium Car Detailing, for a shoot. Euroteq is based out of Trivandrum, Kerala. We had a brief discussion and he mentioned that I will get to shoot a Maserati Levante (the first ever Maserati SUV). I was numb first when I heard this. And just informed him then and there that I would be there when the car arrives. I hung up the phone, but not before thanking them for considering and giving me the opportunity to shoot such a rare car. It took me some time to realise, I had seen a few advertisements and leaked images of this car, but never in my wildest dreams did I think I could see a Maserati so up and close.

Maserati

Maserati is an Italian car manufacturer that makes luxury and sports cars. Founded in 1914 by Alfieri Maserati, one of the five brothers in the Maserati family. Maserati always focused on racing. Throughout its history, Maserati has participated in various forms of motorsports including Formula One, sportscar racing and touring car racing. The ownership of the Maserati brand has changed hands, from Maserati to Orsi followed by Citroen and De Tomaso Era. Now the company is owned by Fiat Chrysler Group. In India, they have a few cars on sale and dealerships are only in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. The entry level of the Maserati brand is the Ghibli Sedan, which is powered by a V6 petrol and diesel engine. Its bigger brothers are very expensive and comes with higher technical specifications. V8s GranTurismos and GranCabrio range are also on offer. The very first thing you will fall in love with is their trident badge, which is the most attractive factor of this brand.

Maserati Levante

The Maserati Levante is a mid size luxury SUV based on a concept car they had debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show. Later they started production in the year 2016-’17. Levante has an eight speed automatic transmission from the sixth generation Maserati Quattroporte. And it's an all wheel drive. Levante rides on air suspension and can be controlled electronically, which can be raised or lowered depending on the terrain.

The Levante features an U-shaped radiator grille with 8 vertical chrome slats and the Maserati's trident logo in the centre. The grille is flanked by slim headlamps and circular fog lamps. The side profile is more that of a coupe. Three small vents are placed on the front fender and a trident logo can be found on each of the C-pillars. At the rear, the Levante features a roof-mounted spoiler, triangular LED tail lights and quad exhaust tips. The Levante gets a 3 spoke multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters and a twin pod instrument cluster with a relatively large MID in the centre. The seats and a few dashboard clusters are covered in luxurious leather upholstery. There is a very unique analogue clock placed on top of the dashboard.
